- Do I need a full bladder for an ultrasound?
Whilst some urine in your bladder is helpful, with modern ultrasound it is rare that bladder filling producing discomfort is required. One or two glasses of water 30 minutes prior to your scheduled examination is typically all that is required. - May I bring a support person with me?
We welcome the presence of your partner or close friend during the ultrasound examination. Children less than 5 years of age rarely find an ultrasound examination interesting and we would encourage you to find childcare for them or bring an adult who can take them for a walk if they become restless. Please do not bring your children if you are scheduled to have an invasive prenatal diagnostic procedure such as a CVS or amniocentesis. - Do I need to bring a referral letter for my ultrasound appointment?
It is a mandatory requirement of Medicare Australia that a medical referral from your doctor is provided for each ultrasound examination. This referral may be posted or faxed directly from your doctor’s rooms to us (facsimile number (08) 93821927) or brought with you on the day of your examination. - When will I pay for my ultrasound examination?
We require payment in full on the day of your examination. We are not a bulk-billing medical practice, however you will be able to claim a portion of your account from Medicare Australia. A costing for your ultrasound examination will be provided to you by our reception staff when you make your appointment. View our Billing and Fee Structure. - Do I need to bring a video or DVD for my obstetric ultrasound examination?
We no longer perform video recording of obstetric examinations as technology has progressed such that DVD is our prime recording format. We will provide a complementary DVD of your obstetric examination for pregnancies at or beyond 11-12 weeks gestation.
